  • This large tree is from the pine family largely found in North America. It prefers a cold climate with a constant humid soil. It is the most resistant of all softwood trees.

  • The absolute fir balm (is obtained from branches and needles with volatile solvents. The Canadian balm is extracted from the resin (or the turpentine) of the balsam fir.

  • Brings depth to woody perfumes. It has a duality in that it brings both warmth and freshness.

  • The balsam fir has balsamic and respiratory antiseptic virtues that are effective for the treatment of colds and flus, strep throat and bronchitis. It is an analgesic prescribed for arthritic and rheumatoid pain as well as neurological pain.
